|Incident Details:||Detective Martin Moylan, 55, was a 30-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the Austin Station.
In October of 1950, Detective Moylan was directing traffic on Austin and Wabansia Avenues when he was struck by a vehicle. The detective suffered multiple injuries ranging from a broken leg to a skull fracture. In 1952, Detective Moylan developed pneumonia after visiting a hospital due to extreme back pain. The detective died at his home on May 1, 1952, from complicates due to pneumonia and his previous injuries.
Detective Moylan’s funeral mass was held at St. Angela’s Church and he was laid to rest in Mount Carmel Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; three daughters and many grandchildren.
