The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation today announced that it is launching a new fundraising push so it can deliver on a commitment it made in 2014 to provide 8,000 replacement bulletproof vests to Chicago Police officers. Since launching the “Get Behind The Vest” initiative in fall, 2014, the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation has provided more than 6,100 replacement bulletproof vests to Chicago police officers. Supporting the effort are two Chicago heroes: a Chicago Police officer who was shot in the line of duty and standout Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford. The two joined forces to create a public service announcement encouraging Chicagoans to “Get Behind the Vest.” The PSA will begin airing on local television and radio stations in the weeks to come.
